SHARC (Scarborough Coastal Health and Care Research Collaborative)

SHARC aims to better address the health and care needs of our coastal populations through high quality collaborative research with community involvement.

This project is a collaboration co funded between York St John University and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that bring both academic and clinical expertise in health research. Our objectives are to:

  • To establish a collaborative support research infrastructure and facilities, to develop workforce research capability, and capacity within Scarborough hospital.
  • To work with the community stakeholders, patients, and their carers to scope out and identify health and care themes that are important to them.
  • To purposefully target research and funding applications that addresses the health and care priorities identified by the Scarborough community.
  • Deliver research training events for the community, and purposefully target novel routes for the community to engage with research.
