Research plays a vital role in improving outcomes by increasing our understanding of health and disease, by developing and refining evidence-based interventions and by enhancing service delivery.  Our dedicated Research & Development Office provides a hands on approach to deliver a high quality service that offers advice and support to researchers, members of the public, patients and industry partners about getting involved in research, study design, study set-up and delivery.

The department employs approximately 80 staff who alongside our investigators form a large part of a cross-functional team and expansive research community.  They range from research nurses and clinical trials assistants who support and oversee the day to day management of research projects such as recruitment and follow-ups; to lead research nurse coordinators and quality assurance staff who can ensure that studies are running efficiently and are appropriately supported.

One of our strengths is linking with local expertise to bring together strong partnerships, to collaborate and deliver exciting and innovative research.  Collaboration is key and we work with many partners to deliver our large portfolio of research studies, in particular we have very strong links with our local universities.
