Your voice, your idea, your impact

The Trust has launched  is very first Innovation competition where you can win a share of £20,000 to help move your idea forward. This can be any new innovative idea that has bene implemented in other Trusts, or something of your own design. These ideas should help improve staff working environments, they may improve patient care, or they can streamline pathways to help improve services in a new way.

Examples of innovations within the Trust and Other NHS organisations can be found on our case studies page

This is open until March 20th 2026.

1What we are looking for

Qualifying ideas must be new projects to the NHS or focus on at least one of the following areas:

  • Quality of care: projects which employ new treatments or ways of working that improve the care given within the Trust in a timely, responsive, safe, accessible, and effective manner to improve patient and colleague experience.
  • Our people: projects providing a positive impact on colleague experience, work life, recruitment, and retention.
  • Sustainability: projects focused on enhancing efficiency, productivity, and making the best use of available resources without compromising the health of future generations.
  • Patient-centered: innovations focused on improving care, treatment, or preventing illness, whether by using new models, adopting technology, or creating something new for patient care.
  • Improve equity: projects that develop innovations to reduce health inequality in the Trust through improving access to care.
  • Pump priming: funding for pilot projects that generate or use data for potential innovators to develop their idea further, with an aim to generate competitive innovation funding bids and national awards.
  • Digital and technology: projects focused on piloting or adopting proven technologies that could improve patient care, relieve pressure, or increase the quality of teaching and training.

2Why are we hosting the competition?

This initiative reflects the Trust’s increasing focus on innovation to improve patient care, services, and colleague experience.

It supports the NHS’s three key shifts (outlined in the Long Term Plan):

  • bringing care closer to people’s homes and communities
  • using digital technology to cut down on admin and make managing care as easy as online banking or shopping
  • focusing more on prevention by supporting patients earlier and making healthy choices easier

All ideas should support at least one of the six core principles: safe, effective, timely, patient-centred, efficient, and equitable.
