Diabetes Research

With Diabetes becoming one of the fastest growing conditions in the country York Hospital are proud to offer important clinical research in this growing and developing area.  Diabetes research focuses on improving the care and treatments for Type 1 and 2 Diabetes patients as well as looking into methods of prevention and early detection of the disease.

York Hospital hosts a specialist Diabetes Research Nurse who works in the hospital's excellent Diabetes Centre which offers diabetes care to one of the largest diabetic populations in the country.

The research team work in close collaboration with teams such as obstetrics and paediatrics to deliver research across the wider hospital environment.

The team also work closely with the Trust's exceptional Community Diabetes team to provide patient in the wider North Yorkshire community the opportunity to be involved in important clinical research.

Key areas of interest: insulin treatment, early detection, gestational diabetes, sleep deprivation, podiatry, paediatrics
